Finally got around to playing some more Soul Reaver today and played it up to the first boss, Melchiah. Quite the easy boss, just drop a couple doors on him and he's dead.
It's weird how different than the memories of it from my childhood are. The controls are pretty bad, though that's probably be cause I'm playing with a key board, the camera is a nightmare, and the combat is atrocious. Still, the voice acting and scenery hold up well, painting the grim land of Nosgoth and really bringing the characters to life.
Looks old school
ReplyDeleteOld 1999 PS1 game
DeleteGave up on this a little time ago. The controls and the camera ruin the game
ReplyDeleteIt would def feel better with a controller but yea, it reminds me how bad some old games were in regards to the camera.
DeleteDamn, Soul Reaver is a blast from the past.
ReplyDeleteBought this game for my PS1 collection a few years back but never got around to beating it. I'll have to try again sometime!
ReplyDeleteI've heard the dreamcast soul reaver is pretty sweet. Legacy of Kain.
ReplyDeleteYup. The Dreamcast version probably would have played a bit better than the PS1 version. Hopefully GoG gets the other games in the series up as they really were great games. Was really two different series, the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver games, with intersecting storylines that meet up for the final game. Lots of time travel, rewrites of history, and never knowing for sure who the true villain is.
